It’s been two months since Meadow Walker, the daughter of late movie actor Paul Walker, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche for alleged auto defects she believes are directly responsible for her father’s untimely death. Porsche, who has remained silent, finally responded to the Paul Walker wrongful death lawsuit.
In a document submitted to the courts, Porsche essentially claim that Walker was completely aware of the danger of riding in the Porsche Carrera GT that killed him. “The perils, risk and dangers were open and obvious and known to him, and that he chose to conduct himself in a manner as to expose himself to such perils, dangers and risks, thus assuming all the risks involved in using the vehicle,” read the document.
Basically, it appears that Porsche is saying that by getting in the car, Walker was accepting the risk of a crash and therefore the lawsuit against them should be dropped or diminished.
Porsche also added that they believe the crash was the result of the car not being properly maintained. Meadow’s lawsuit argues that the wreck was caused because Porsche did not install proper stability controls despite “knowing that the Carrera GT had a history of instability and control issues.”
In addition, the suit accuses Porsche of using a defective seat belt design that snapped Walker back in the crash and did not allow him to release the belt and escape before the vehicle was engulfed in flames – allegedly caused by another defect.
