Motorcycle Accidents: How Can a Driver Avoid One?
As we reported recently, even though the weather is getting worse in many parts of the country over the winter months, in Florida, people continue to enjoy riding motorcycles in the state’s fair weather.
With this in mind, drivers need to be careful and respect motorcyclists, as motorcycle accidents can result in death and horrific injuries, including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, broken bones and amputations.
Remember, motorcyclists are 27 times more likely to die in a vehicle accident than people riding in automobiles are, and many of these accidents are a result of other drivers’ inattention or recklessness.
If you are operating a vehicle and approach a motorcycle, make sure that you avoid distracted driving and pay attention to your surroundings. Give the motorcyclist ample time to break and make turns, and make sure you pay attention, especially if you need to make lane changes or make a turn yourself.
